24 January 2012 - LGsuper has Australia's best performing balanced option
As reported in the Sydney Morning Herald (21 January 2012), LGsuper has outperformed other large Australian superannuation balanced investment options over the 12 month period to 31 December 2011*. LGsuper's Conservative Balanced investment option was ranked first over one year and second over 5 years.
Although the growth is modest, LGsuper's Conservative Balanced option, was among only a handful of funds and investment options delivering a positive return over one year. The market suffered significant turmoil and uncertainty during 2011, and indeed over the past 5 years. Over a 5 year period the Conservative Balanced option performed second best among all of Australia's super funds with the Stable option ranked second over the same period*. Diversified Growth ranked 8th and Aggressive ranked 4th over the same period compared to similar options. Despite a tumultuous 2011, these results are a testament to LGsuper's diversified investment strategies.
LGsuper's CEO, David Todd said, "LGsuper members should understand that the difficult market is likely to be part of the global landscape for a while to come, but should feel some reassurance that their fund is performing among the best in Australia."
